Getting started · 3 minute read

Start journaling: Three minutes are enough

You do not need to document your entire day or discover something about yourself immediately. One moment and a few honest sentences are a good start. This small template works in InnerVoid or on paper.

Three questions, one moment

Choose something specific from today: a conversation, a break, a decision. Give it a short title to help you find it later, such as "After the meeting".

  1. What happened? Describe the situation before judging it.
  2. How did I feel? One word is enough. "I do not know yet" is an answer too.
  3. What do I need now? Perhaps rest, clarity or a conversation. You do not need a solution yet.

Three minutes are an invitation, not a minimum requirement. Bullet points are just as valid as paragraphs. Skip additional fields when they do not help.

A short entry is enough

Need a topic? Choose one of these 12 everyday journaling prompts. If a specific thought is already on your mind, try the template for organizing your thoughts.

After the meeting
I agreed to another task even though my week is already full. Afterwards I felt tense. Tomorrow I want to ask which task can wait instead.

This gives you a situation, a reaction and a possible next step. No personality label or perfect explanation. "I had a quiet afternoon and want to remember what felt good about it" is a complete starting point too.

Save. Then you can stop.

In InnerVoid, open "Write", give your entry a title, write your text and save it. Afterwards you can read the entry or view your reflections. Both are optional.

Word signals are calculated locally; an AI reflection is not required. Local analysis does not establish who you are either. A short entry may not produce a meaningful analysis. The guide to interpreting reflections explains how to approach these hints.

For tomorrow, one simple idea is enough: capture a moment when you feel like it. You do not have to maintain a streak or catch up. If writing does not feel helpful right now, you can stop.

Common questions

What if nothing special happened today?

Write about something ordinary: what felt pleasant or took energy? Or skip the day. Your journal does not owe anyone an entry.

Do I need to write a lot or use AI?

No. Write as little or as much as helps you. This exercise needs neither AI analysis nor a paid plan.

Your next step

Capture one moment. That can be enough for today.

Write an entry

A reflection exercise, not treatment or a diagnosis.
